FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

International Association of Black Triathletes Announces TRI/DU Youth Education & Leadership Employment Training Program (Y.E.L.T.)

The International Association of Black Triathletes (IABT) is a nonprofit in the Baltimore region formed to promote mind-body wellness and encourage the participation of all, especially in the urban communities in multi-disciplined sports. The nonprofit has announced its new TRI/DU Youth Education & Leadership Employment Training Program (Y.E.L.T.)

Baltimore, MD 04/01/17—Parents and students in the Baltimore region now have an additional resource for college and work preparation available to them. The IABT is now offering a new TRI/DU Youth Education & Leadership Employment Training Program (Y.E.L.T.).  designed for young adults ages 14-24 (in and out of school), the program focuses on enhancing youth employment and marketability opportunities through soft skills development and training,

“We are pleased to be able to offer this type of program to area youth,” says Executive Director, Dr. Tekemia Dorsey. “So many children and young adults are unprepared for the rigors of the work force or how to present themselves in such a way as to get ahead. Our program is intended to instill youth with those leadership and performance skills necessary to be successful.”

The program’s goals are to instill self confidence, self esteem, and self awareness through the integration of sports such as swimming, cycling, running, nutrition, strength and conditioning, as well as, work on the development and building of skills needed not only to land the job or college admissions but to advance one's career. “We advocate for multi-disciplined sports because they help to build a variety of life skills, along with healthy bodies,” says Dorsey. “However, we started our nonprofit, first and foremost, to make a difference in the lives of our youth, adults, and communities, and this program advances that mission.”
